Overveen is centrally located within Kennemerland. It is part of the municipality of Bloemendaal, close to Haarlem and bordering the undulating dune landscape of the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. lt also has its own train station with direct and short train rides to both Zandvoort and Haarlem. In the past, Overveen was called Tetterode and the area was once owned by the Gehrels family. It now has a population of over 4,500.
