The Coronavirus does creates uncertain times. We can imagine that you have questions about what impact this has on the real estate market and on the purchase or sale of a house. We are happy to answer your questions.
Is this the right time to sell your house?
Despite the fact that some potential buyers have become more reluctant in anticipation of the developments, we notice that a large part of the buyers is still actively looking and that in different segments houses are still being sold.
This time of uncertainty also means that a number of sellers are postponing the sale of their house for a while. Maybe that is why now is the right time to sell your house. After all, there is less competition for you as a seller!
Do you prefer to postpone the sale anyway? We advise you to use this time to prepare for an even better sale. We are happy to help you with personal tips for an optimal sales result!
It is still possible to get a valuation?
Would you like to plan a consultation with us for the sale or rental of your house? That is still possible.
We are happy to inform you about the sales/rental process and give you an indication of the expected results. In order to give the best advice, it is important that we visit your house in person.
Of course we adhere to the RIVM guidelines and normally we would visit with two of our agents but under these circumstances we only visit with one agent. Furthermore, we ask you to be present at the appointment with a maximum of two people and we keep of course a suitable distance.
Please find more information here about the measures we take at our fysical appointments.
How does Engel & Völkers deal with viewings?
It is important to us that viewings can still take place. Of course, we take the necessary measures to ensure this. For example, we ask viewers not to come to the viewing with no more than two people and we will keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters. Furthermore, we plan viewings in such a way that there is no overlap with other interested parties. We ask everyone to adhere strictly to the agreed times.
In addition, we offer the possibility of video viewings by a live video chat. Our estate agents are happy to show interested parties around.
For most houses we offer we already made a video so you can have an impression. View our current offers here:
My house was recently sold, but still has to be delivered. Does the Corona measures affect this?
We can still proceed with the delivery of your house because the notary's offices are still "open". The notary will inform you about in what way the delivery will take place. In some cases a power of attorney may be given. In other cases you will have to appear at the notary's office, but there will be no official meeting.
Will the housing market collapse?
What the exact impact of Corona is on the market is difficult to predict. The measures taken by the government to prevent the spread of the Corona virus will have some some affect on economy and there is a chance of a recession in 2020.
However, this does not necessarily mean that the housing market will be affected. buying a house is still favourable since mortgage interest rates are low. Also, there is still a housing shortage in the Netherlands. Demand is high and supply is limited.
