On Saturday 1st June, the 14th edition of the ING Night Marathon took place in the streets of the capital. 16,000 participants took part to this unique event. Among them, three members of the Engel & Völkers Luxembourg team ran for their real estate group. Discover their testimonies at the end of this article!
This event is not only a great gathering of athletes from all over the world who come to walk the streets of Luxembourg City. It is also a very festive event for all Luxembourgers. The race is animated by many music groups, DJ's but also by the enthusiasm of the public who came to encourage the marathon runners. As night fell, the festivities is ongoing throughout the city.
Our team's favorite thing: we didn't all manage to reach an agreement. The supporters succumbed to the charms of the Petrusse valley lit by colourful lanterns while the runners' hearts swung for the finish line at Luxexpo (Kirchberg) in a redecorated room with lighting, pyrotechnics and sound system.
Then, the ING Night Marathon is famous for its own journey. Indeed, many participants consider it to be one of the most difficult in Europe due to its vertical drop and numerous bends. The night marathon started at Luxexpo (in the Kirchberg business district), continued at Limpersberg, then at the city park, Knuedler, Place Guillaume II, Grand-Rue, the station district, the Petrusse valley and the part of the Red Bridge and ended at Luxexpo. But how did the members of our team feel?
Matthias May, Managing Director: took the 249th position in the marathon (42kms), which he ran in 3 hours and 48 minutes. A remarkable score!
Filipe Rebelo, Real Estate Agent: "This race was my first half-marathon (21kms) but it will be my last run without training (laughs). Count on me next year to get off to a well-trained start!"
Lola Jallais Antonicelli, Marketing Manager: "We were fortunate to be encouraged by the other members of the Engel & Völkers Luxembourg team and by our friends. I find that it carries throughout the journey. See you next year for new adventures!"
Our next team challenge? Probably Luxembourg Times BusinessRun!
