Sabine Weber is an enthusiastic traveller, in love with exoticism and the beauty of limitless landscapes. During the 20 years she spent as a partner in an architects' practice in Luxembourg, she never gave up on her cravings for adventures abroad. In 2005, whilst on a trip to South Africa, she came into contact with an Engel & Völkers agency, the unique real estate group she would eventually enjoy working for, firstly, for the brand presence in her home country (Germany), but mostly for its international renown. When she returned to Luxembourg, she decided to push open the door of our agency and that was where she met Jean Bollendorff, the current Team Leader of our Market Center in Luxembourg. But it was not until 2010, she decided to apply as a real estate agent and she was hired to join us in pioneering the future of property brokerage !
What makes you proud of working for Engel & Völkers?
Like the brand Engel & Völkers, I was born in Germany. Honestly, it is the one and only real estate company for which I wanted to work. The company is part of my culture and I am proud of having the chance to work for a famous international brand with a worldwide network. I have never worked in my home country and this company offers worldwide openings. Indeed, Engel & Völkers has branches in over 800 locations and is present in 34 countries on 4 continents. This is a strong brand with values that I share.
What makes you proud of working in Luxembourg?
Every day I have the chance to meet new clients with diverse cultures and outlooks. Luxembourg is an extremely rich country where 160 nationalities coexist. I think that this rich mix gives us an extraordinary open-mindedness. Every day I learn from my clients. This is very enriching and connects me to my trips around the world!
3 reasons why being a real estate agent is your dream job ?
I have long worked as an engineer and interior designer. Becoming a real estate agent was a logical next step for me. My experience allows me to recognise the potential of each property. Thanks to this experience, I can advise my customers so they too can see this potential.
Then, my job as a real estate agent in Luxembourg enables me to meet people with diverse outlooks. I love to learn from differences.
Finally, I really appreciate the human aspect of my job. I love to spend time with my clients, they contribute a lot to my enjoyment of the job.
According to you, what is the key to success as a real estate agent?
I personally believe that the key to success lies in the ability of an agent to earn the trust of a client. I place more emphasis on service than the sale itself. I don't push customers, I advise them by putting myself into their shoes.
Could you tell me about a person whom you particularly admire ?
My parents for sure. I had a happy childhood. Thanks to my parents, I had the chance to study and they never pushed me in a direction I had not chosen. I always had freedom of choice and they have always supported me.
What do you do in your free time ?
I sing in an international choir. This gives me a lot of energy.
Photography is also one of my hobbies. This is really useful in my daily job as a real estate agent where I need to photograph properties.
Finally, I really love to travel to discover other ways of life.
How would you describe your dream home ?
Simply a small cabin in a nature reserve in Africa.
How do you see your life in 3 years ?
You never know what's going to come your way. With Engel & Völkers, I could be anywhere in the world. Why not in South Africa, or in Berlin with my family?
