What to do in Treviso in winter

Is everything ready to move you to one of the most picturesque places in Italy? Here's what to do in winter, before and after looking for our homes for sale in Treviso

Its canals make it a little Venice. The ancient mills enrich the most evocative views. Like all cities removed from water, each walk offers unexpected and changing views. And even if this is not the best time to enjoy excursions to the capital of the Marca Trevigiana as in the rest of Italy, due to Covid-19, there is always time to get to know the most secret soul of this city and, why not, browse among its beautiful houses for sale Treviso center.

Here are places, experiences and flavors that you absolutely must not miss at this time of year in Treviso.

HAND IN HAND IN THE HISTORICAL CENTER

As soon as you have moved to Treviso, at this time of the year a walk in the center is a must, perhaps hand in hand next to your half. An evocative itinerary through the streets and canals of this wonderful city can only start from Piazza dei Signori, which is overlooked by the Palazzo dei Trecento. The courtyard of Palazzo Zignoli is also worth a visit, where the famous Fountain of the Tits is located. Not everyone knows that it is only a copy (the original is kept under the arcades of the Palazzo dei Trecento), and that until 1797 wine flowed when each new Podestà was appointed.

A tour in the heart of Treviso cannot forget theBuranelli canal, which takes its name from the family of the same name. Here you can admire truly suggestive and romantic views, but also retire to one of the many restaurants in the area if the cold (and hunger) make themselves felt.

A tip: if you are still looking for a welcoming home to move to, but you don't want to give up the comforts of the city, don't let yourself be rushed. There are many newly built solutions in the city center that are about to be completed and that will best respond to all your needs.

And don't forget: it's better to focus on houses in Treviso with garage (single or double). Nobody likes having to run around in circles for hours looking for a parking space when the thermometer outside drops below freezing.

AN EVENING AT THE THEATER

Theater fans? Then the Mario Del Monaco municipal theater is a stop that you absolutely must not miss. It was built in the seventeenth century by Count Fiorino Onigo who decided to build it on a plot of his own in the San Martin district, where he owned "a house with a shop and magazen". After centuries of mixed fortunes, the theater became municipal property: on November 15, 2003 it was reopened to the public, inaugurated with a concert by the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra.

THE MUSEUM SYSTEM OF TREVISO

If the outside thermometer is unforgiving and theater is not really one of your first preferences, a visit to the museums could prove to be a valid alternative. On the other hand, looking for a house in Treviso is a priority but also enjoying the beauty of the place.

Which museums to visit? Without doubt the Civic Museum of Santa Caterina, built in a fascinating convent complex, which houses collections of ancient art. Then the Luigi Bailo Museum, characterized by the works of the most important Italian sculptor of the early 1900s, Arturo Martini and, finally, do not miss the medieval complex of Ca 'da Noal - Casa Robegan, home to temporary exhibitions.

A TOUR AMONG THE HILLS OF PROSECCO

Winter, with its snow and mist, can be an ideal season to get lost in the charm of the hills around Treviso, where the famous Prosecco is born. Between resting vineyards waiting for spring, and cellars ready to welcome tourists, the journey can start from Asolo, what Carducci defined as “the city of a hundred horizons”. An unmissable destination, also for its pretty historic center, spread around the main Piazza Garibaldi.

ALL THE TASTE OF RED RADICCHIO DI TREVISO

Winter is also the season of the famous Treviso Red Radicchio, whose goodness is largely due to the traditional “bleaching” technique, which involves, after harvesting, the stopping of the bunches in tanks filled with running resurgence water.

Delicious raw, it is a unique ingredient for splendid risottos. Maybe to taste in one of the restaurants in the city, looking, in the meantime, among our ads for apartments for sale in Treviso.
