If before it was above all a question of sustainability and attention for our planet, with the high bills that occurred in the last months of 2022 we have returned to talk about ecological heating systems as a solution capable not only of guaranteeing greater respect for the environment , but also a significant saving in bills. Hence the questions: how to heat the house in an ecological way? How to choose the best ecological heating system for your home?
Two non-trivial questions, especially for those who own a new home. After all, not all systems integrate well into a new home with the same results. On the one hand, the installation costs vary significantly, and on the other hand, various statutory provisions, such as the Federal Energy Act for Buildings (GEG), have significantly limited the range of available systems.
Starting from heating systems with fossil fuels, we can say that building companies are still free to install a heating system with fossil energy. But that won't be the case for much longer: at the latest in 2026, the use of diesel systems will largely be banned. And there is currently no financing available to install gas or oil fired condensing systems. A further aspect to consider in the purchase decision is the dependence on the market prices of many energy sources that are running out.
Gas systems require only one connection and do not include fuel storage. This is a particularly favorable aspect, especially for small houses. Both gas and oil heating are more affordable than systems that use renewable energy, but be careful: for gas heating, installation costs and the monthly connection fee must also be added. Finally, a gas system as a single heating system cannot benefit from any financing.

In the light of what has been said so far, innovative heating systems for new buildings are making their way lately. In addition to the thermodynamic solar system, the most modern type of heating by far is the heat pump. It is a system that harvests energy from the air, the groundwater or the earth. And since the heat pump uses about 20 to 30 percent of electricity to heat, integrating with a photovoltaic system can bring energy costs to almost zero.
If you want to use free sources, the thermodynamic solar system is then the ideal solution. This system requires electricity only for the control and not for heating the heat pump, and also releases no emissions. However, even such a system has limitations. In winter, in fact, the need for heat is higher, but the solar radiation is decidedly lower. In addition, the roof area must be large enough and oriented as far south as possible.
Finally there are the pellet systems. Pellet heating is more efficient and ecological. On the other hand, the combustion of wood pellets produces fine particles. To access public funding, therefore, the level of fine dust emissions must not exceed 2.5 mg/m3. Although the installation is cheaper, the feeding is totally manual. Those who work outside the home all day could therefore come home to an apartment that is practically cold in winter. Not to mention the processing and storage of wood, very tiring operations.
