Madonna di Campiglio is a ski resort in northern Italy, located in the provinces of Trento,  capital of the homonymous Autonomous Region and of the region with special status Trentino Alto Adige. It is surrounded by the Natural Park Adamello-Brenta, which includes the Brenta Dolomites, glaciers, lakes and walking paths. From Madonna di Campiglio the ski lifts allow you to reach the biggest skiarea of north Italy, where 60 mountain railways connect the three most popular and prestigious ski areas: Madonna di Campiglio, Folgarida-Marilleva and Pinzolo. Along the 150 Km of ski slopes many events take place every year, including the unmissable and the exciting World Cup of alpine skiing.

Madonna di Campiglio and the neighbouring tourist resorts like: Campo Carlo Magno, Sant'Antonio di Mavignola, Carisolo, Pinzolo, Vadaione, Giustino, Massimeno, Bocenago, Caderzone Terme, Strembo, Mortaso, Spiazzo, Fisto, Ches, Borzago, Pelugo, Vigo Rendena, Darè, Javrè, Villa Rendena (Porte di Rendena) and Verdesina compose the Rendena Valley. The valley is inserted in a natural environment of incomparable beauty: to the east are the majestic Brenta Dolomites, to the west the snowy granite peaks of the Adamello and Presanella. The whole territory is the largest protected area of Trentino, the Adamello Brenta nature park is a real paradise of biodiversity with hundreds of wild fauna and flora specimens.

Specifically the Brenta is a mountain range of exceptional natural value, also because it is distant from the large urban centers and from the main communication routes. Is a part of the Rhaetian Alps and is recognized as a Unesco heritage. This imposing range develops in the western area of Trentino, including the Giudicarie Valleys, the Rendena, Sole and Non valleys.

For those who love the mountains and its activities the Brenta Dolomites represent a real paradise:  eight peaks develop over 3000 meters and the majority exceed a height of 2500. These mountains are of primary importance also for the history of mountaineering, thanks to some peaks that have become famous all over the world, like the Campanil Basso, Crozzon di Brenta, Cima Tosa and Cima Brenta.

From an artistic and cultural point of view the Rendena Valley is expressed through the architectural elements of the farmhouses, the structures of the ancient courts and the simple and functional  elegance of the historic buildings. It is possible to retrace the history of the valley through the testimonies collected in the museum of the Rendena Valley: The old factory of the crystals - Adamellina white war museum - Cus house, discovering ancient crafts - The alpine guides museum, story of alpine pioneers - Geopark, to discover the geology of the park - Water life, life in the sub-mountains waters - Glaciological center "Julius Payer": the glaciers and the mountain environment.
