In Bolzano, the retail trade is concentrated above all on two top shopping streets in the historic old town: the arcades (Portici)  and the Museum street. Portici is the heart of  Bolzano trade and, with it's elegant, traditional and modern shops, it is among the most attractive shopping street in Bolzano. A typical arcaded house is four steps wide (approx. 4 metres) and about 50 meters long. The houses stand close to each other, gaps of about 30 cm were used for the statics of the Romanesque stone walls. The Museum Street is also very popular as a shopping street and in recent years the largest and best known international retail chains, such as Zara, H&M, Ives Rocher, MAC, Sephora, Calzedonia etc., have settled in the traditional houses, which converted the old structured showcases for their use and thus created wide showcases and lent a new flair to the entire sales area, but also to the shopping street.

In addition to the shopping streets, the shopping centres "Twenty" and "Centrum", again with large international retail chains, enrich the Bolzano retail trade.
