Discrete, fast and with years of market knowledge.
After a long waiting, the small old-village or ‘borgo’ of Buonconvento (Siena) has finally received the visit of Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. They arrived at Borgo Finocchieto, a property owned by the former US ambassador in Italy John Phillips, on May 19th. They could probably visit Siena and Florence during their holiday, but the couple’s movements are top secret and modifiable at the last moment for security reasons. For now, Michelle spent her time shopping, while her husband spent the day playing golf and walking in the countryside.
The former US President decided to spend his relaxing time in a luxury villa with a stunning view of the surrounding hills, through which is easy to reach some of the magnificent medieval villages which characterize Tuscany like San Quirico d’Orcia, Pienza and Montalcino. This area, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004, offers unique and incredible sights to its visitors, who will enjoy the historical-artistic, cultural and natural wonders that those places offer.
This less famous part of Tuscany is rich in medieval castles, antique villages, wonderful agritourisms and isolated farmhouses, boulevards of cypresses, magnificent vineyards and olive groves. In addition to architecture and nature, other characteristic elements of this area are the delicious taste of the Tuscany wine (Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano) and other local products like the excellent “pecorino di Pienza”, the olive oil or the mushrooms, truffles and bushmeat.
The tour of that magnificent area of Tuscany can be enriched by a magnificent luxury stay in a wonderful small farmhouse, in an elegant apartment or even in a fascinating mill!
