The Olympic Village of Milan-Cortina 2026 is taking shape in the area of the former Porta Romana railway yard, representing an ambitious urban regeneration project. During the Winter Games, it will host the athletes, but its future purpose is equally significant: it will be transformed into one of Italy’s largest student housing facilities, offering approximately 1,700 beds.
This project, financed with a total investment of around €200 million by COIMA SGR, CDP Real Asset, and other partners, also includes a "Green Loan" exceeding €100 million. Designed with a sustainable approach, the buildings meet NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) standards, minimizing environmental impact both during and after the Olympics. In addition to housing, the village will feature communal spaces such as coworking areas, gyms, and dining services.
The project aims to give the city a completely renewed area, with extensive green spaces, pedestrian walkways, and the redevelopment of Porta Romana train station. The Olympic Village is not only a symbol of Milan’s Olympic spirit but also a model of sustainable urban transformation.
