2020, as in the rest of the world, was an unusual year for the children of Togo. The "Ecole primaire privée Engel & Völkers" had to close for several weeks due to the coronavirus. Unfortunately the pupils were unable to take part in the online lessons as the technical equipment was not available. So principal Samuel Yawo Kutuadu made sure that at least the senior class had access to the teaching material during the closing period. The school reopened on October 26 and the children, informed about the protective measures, were very happy to be back in the classroom.
Engel & Völkers Milano has been supporting Aleke Yawa, Koffi Mawuli, Adzo and Claude for years. Despite the difficulties resulting from the pandemic, the children have also achieved excellent results this year.
Aleke Yawa is one of the best in her class. Based on his grades and diligence, he will be able to graduate in the next school year.
Koffi Mawuli loves going to school and works hard. He really enjoys sharing his study and free time with his classmates.
Adzo is always in a good mood, despite his eye problems. This year she finished second in her class and next year she will take the primary school exam.
Claude is in good health and thanks to the more intense support of his teacher, he was able to achieve better results on the study.
These children are the pride of teachers, families and also of the Engel & Völkers Milano Team.
Success is a wonderful thing and it’s even best when shared, that is why in October 2008 E&V Charity has been founded with the aim to actively support the construction of a primary school in Togo.
The initiative led to the construction of École privée Engel Völkers in 2009, an elementary school for the district’s children. Since 2010, the school teaches the official language French, most important requirement for a further education and more sophisticated professions. Additional to the lessons in reading, writing and maths, the school provides all necessary course material and two hot meals per day in the school’s canteen that has been built in 2017.
It is important to overcome our privileges and it’s our moral duty to be aware of our own humanitarian responsibilities offering help where it is most needed.
Our efforts are targeted to offer to the Agbetiko children the possibility to build a better life.
The right to education should be granted to every child of the world, help us in securing this right, even the smallest donation can make a big difference. Engel & Völkers Charity gives you the chance to sponsor a pupil at the “Ecole Privée Engel & Völkers” on an individual basis, thereby pledging to support our project in the long term. With 25 euros a month, you can cover the entire cost of a child´s education, as well as a new school uniform every year, all teaching materials and two meals a day.
