Engel & Völkers Brescia: Luxury properties in a city of merit.
Because of its Roman history, the medieval castle, the endless green plains and the gentle hill slopes, Brescia is shown as a town full of artistic, historical and natural beauties. The "Lioness", so called for resisting the Austrians during the Italian Risorgimento, is now one of the most populous Italian provinces.
Declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the city offers a wonderful monumental area thanks to the presence of the Roman Forum, the Capitolium and the Lombard Monastery of San Salvatore and Santa Giulia.
There are many monuments in the Old Town, belonging to different artistic and historical epochs.
One of the most famous squares is Piazza della Vittoria, built in the '30s by the architect Marcello Piacentini, after the demolition of the medieval area of the Fishmongers district, which fits around the southern part of the Carmine neighborhood. The square was an architectural emblem and urban organization of 1920s, and today is home to the Post Office building and the Tower of the Revolution with its huge clock. In consequence of the restructuring of 2013, that made the square an entirely pedestrian area, was located a new fountain, in the style of the original one, and the square was finally completed by the realization of the subway station. Here you can well understand, therefore, that the historic downtown area is organized in a careful and is connected, by the public transport services, to all the rest of the city and suburbs.
Nearby, it places another square of the most famous of the city: Piazza della Loggia. Designed during the Renaissance, immediately becomes the heart of Brescia, both for the position and for the imposing presence of the Palazzo della Loggia, the city administrative office life. Its sides are adorned of buildings in Venetian style with a strong visual impact, including the Clock Tower, so named by the presence of an antique clock decorated with four copper angels, the representation of the winds by two male figures in bronze, that punctuate the day time beating the hammer on the bell at the top of the dial.
From the square, through the arcades of X Giornate, you quickly reach the beautiful Teatro Grande, very popular among tourists and citizens who are amazed by its magnificent beauty, and home to the biggest theater season of the City Ballet. Numerous shops, various local and the typical restaurants, embellish the area.
Surrounded by the "Park of the Brescia hills", Brescia enjoys a green lung, characterized by paths from which sport lovers can climb. One of the trails climbs on Mount Maddalena up to the Church of San Gottardo, built thanks to the generous donation of a well-known surgeon from Brescia. From here you can continue on to the highest top, the Margherita peak, which offers a spectacular view, or go down to the city, meeting with the monument of the dog's Tomb, built in 1860 by Rodolfo Vantini and being able to admire the near Cidneo Hill on which stands the Castle of Brescia.
In addition, on a slope you can admire meadows, orchards, churches, elegant restaurants, farmhouses and manor houses characteristics.
The wonderful "belvedere", placed in different sights, add to the hill a romantic note, dear to those who want to see the city in daylight and in the dark of a starry night.
Brescia then offers its artistic charm, its natural charm and its urban comfort to anyone who wants to enjoy the enormous possibilities.
