Monferrato is a place of extraordinary hills, a region of historic and geographical importance in Piedmont, mainly between Asti and Alessandria. It is to the Marquis Aleramo, lived between 904 and 993, which seem to be linked to the birth and the name of this land of villages and vineyards, towers and castles, churches and farmhouses. The birth of the Monferrato is therefore to be attributed to the one who became the first marquis in the distance of 967. A land that will celebrate its 1050 years of history this year, giving great celebrations, focusing on fairs, festivals, meetings and cultural initiatives. Celebrations that will be held in the places of art and tradition, that of this millenary land have marked and still tell a story every day.
What is Monferrato 1050?
It is the event that from March 23rd to November 11th will be able to underline the importance of the aleramic land in Italy and in the world, the operational goal that will strengthen the joint efforts of Local Authorities and companies interested in developing a cultural, touristic and relational marketing for new employment and productive links.
Unlike big events recently experienced that required investment in structures then to be converted, Monferrato really exists.There is a range of innumerable sites to discover, without making queues, without competing. There is an immense "pavilion" that is already tobe lived. Millions of visitors, tourists, tasters, entrepreneurs, international buyers, expected in about 8 months of a rich calendar of interconnected events. A center for qualification and exposure of the community with a Community Central Management in Asti to ensure the full operation of volunteers, professionals and exhibitors. All Monferrato as a "natural exhibitionsite" with 8 theme areas, 16 auditoriums, 24 natural amphitheatres.
Asti could be the basis for an internationalization with the task of structuring the organization and management of the event with several selected actuators with thematic proposals.
On Sunday, May 21, 2017, the National Day ADSI returns.This initiative promoted by the Italian Association of Historic Houses, offers the possibility of visiting free castles, palaces, villas, courtyards and gardens of Piedmont, often unknown and closed, belonging to members of the Association engaged in a great work of protection to support and protect the residences they own and to share with the whole community their important historical, artistic and cultural value.
The many historic houses in our country represent a strong attraction for tourists, both Italian and foreign, interested not only to visit the most famous art cities but above all to know the villages and the secondary centers along the itineraries that also offer the possibility to discover and taste eno-gastronomic products of greatquality, excellence and tradition.
Among the 21 historical Piedmont dwellings that take part in the initiative, our area will open the doors of the castle of Gabiano, Ozzano Monferrato's and Sannazzaro castle in Giarole and Villa La Marchesa in Novi Ligure.
Castle of Gabiano (Via San Defendente, 2 - 15020 Gabiano, AL). During the day, the free tour will include the historic cellars, 4 interiors, the roof garden and the panoramic tower. Outside, the park and the castle's maze will be visited free of charge.
Castle of Ozzano Monferrato (Via Fratelli Sasso, 21 - 15039 Ozzano Monferrato, AL). You will be able to visit the park of the castle, therefore both the Italian garden and the large cedar of Lebanon over 300 years of age.
Castello Sannazzaro (via Roma, 5 - 15036 Giarole, AL). There will be free access to garden,St. James church and stables. The interior of the castle can be visited on a pay-per-view basis.
Villa La Marchesa (via Gavi, 87-15067 Novi Ligure, AL). You will be able to enjoy theviews of the vineyards, the Italian garden, the orchard garden, the chapel of the villa, the limonaia and the wine cellar. Spectacular landscape bounded by the Alps to the hills of the area.
