Investing in the real estate market in the 19th arrondissement

Paris’ 19th arrondissement is one of the areas which has best preserved its charm throughout the years, despite modernization and gentrification which can sometimes ruin the atmosphere of once charming neighbourhoods. The 19th remains relatively well preserved and conserves its village feel, or rather villages, as it takes pride in being made up of numerous smaller neighbourhoods with old fashioned and bucolic charm, making it a favourite Sunday destination for Parisians.

The 19th arrondissement of Paris, a charming village feel

Perfectly situated between the 10th, 11th, 19th and 20th arrondissements, festive, charming and good-natured, the 19th has maintained its old-fashioned airs, mostly thanks to the Mouzaia neighbourhood, which is filled with little floral houses and paved streets. It’s easy to feel like you’ve taken a trip outside of Paris when you visit. Still one of Paris’ relatively unknown secrets, it is nonetheless one of many Parisian’s favourite spots for a Sunday stroll to help them forget the city’s chaos.

The neighbourhood is characterised by an abundance of colours, red bricks, wooden shutters and ivy coloured walls. The equally picturesque Butte Bergeyre is known for its retro facades, its eclectic and melancholy houses, without forgetting its view over Montmartre! Here you will also find a small Parisian vineyard which produces around 100 bottles per year to the delight of its residents.

The Buttes Chaumont, a green haven in the 19th arrondissement

A highly romantic area of the beautiful capital, the Buttes Chaumont park is an institution. 25 hectares of greenery, small valleys, lakes and grottos offer a perfect chance for everyone to spend a happy, sunny day. Even the most pessimistic will be seduced by this unexpected wonder of Paris, with its lake and the suspension bridge, designed by Gustave Eiffel.

The Villette basin and the Ourcq canal, symbols of the 19th arrondissement in Paris

Known for the many activities on offer there, the Villette basin is one of the most lively areas in Paris. Concerts, festivals, guides and exhibitions, anything is possible in the neighbourhood that combines: the Zenith de Paris, the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, the Grande Halle de la Villette, the Paris Philharmonia, the Cité de la musique and the open air cinema, to name a few.

The Villette basin is situated on the banks of the Ourcq canal and is adjacent to Bobigny, which hosts a number of water activities in the warmer months: electric boats, inflatable structures and terraces on the water’s edge provide excellent afternoon fun for families and friends.

The 19th arrondissement is relatively eclectic. On the one hand, it is home to a large number of families who are looking for an affordable and fun place inside Paris. Thus the 19th fits this bill perfectly, thanks to the Buttes Chaumont park, the Villette basin and the Ourcq canal. On the other hand, the 19th also hosts a large student population and many young professionals looking for a lively area as well as accessible rents.

Thus, the 19th combines a variety of profiles and possesses a social, cultural and economic capital which attracts families, young professionals and students alike.
