The designer of the year award, 2017
Each M & O session culminates in the election of the creator of the year. This show is an opportunity to recognise the designer with the most outstanding creations of the current international design and decoration, allowing them to invest a space dedicated to their creations. The M & O 2017 salon praised the interior decorator-designer Tristan Auer, who put forward a scenography telling an art history of French art de vivre. This scenography was also the major theme of the renovation of parts of the Hôtel de Crillon.
The Crillon - Tristan Auer
The Hotel de Crillon, formerly known as the Aumont Hotel, was built by the architect Louis-François Trouard. Located at the corner of rue Boissy d'Anglas, the facade was classified as a historic building in 1900. Since 2010, the Hotel de Crillon has been owned by a Saudi family, who have undertaken renovations lasting 4 years from March 2013. The work was led by the architect Richard Martinet and decorator Aline d'Amman. The designer of the year 2017, Tristan Auer, was responsible for the renovation of the interior design and decoration of the lobby, the reception, the men's concierge, the hairdresser, the spa , the boardroom, the cigar lounge, the shops, the Cognac shop, the Brasserie d'Aumont, the Cour d'Honneur and the Cour Gabriel. Tristan Auer has received several awards for his work throughout his career:
• Creator of the Year - Maison & Objet Paris in 2017
• Sleeper - 3 Awards for Hotel Les Bains in 2015
• AD France: one of the Top 10 Interior Decorators and Talent de la Séduction award, by the Centre du Luxe et de la Création
• Penninghen Award in 2013
The scenography of these renovations tells a story of French art de vivre specific to the function of each renovated room. Engel & Völkers Paris discovered this story during an opening night at the Hotel de Crillon.
