Orihuela Costa’s Pet-Friendly Beaches

The beaches and coves of Orihuela Costa not only bring excitement and adventure for us but also for our pets who enjoy the cool seawater, and the spacious beaches to run and play.

The Municipality of Orihuela Costa has designated specific parts of the coast where dogs and other pets are permitted to swim, play, and run freely. In recent years, more and more Costa Blanca beaches have become pet-friendly. Some of these beaches have drinking stations and rinsing or bathing areas for dogs.

Some handy items to include on your trip are water, litter bags, leash, collar with a name tag and your contact number. Having a photo of your dog on hand or saved in your phone can also be handy.

Some basic beach etiquette for dog owners:

- Please follow the leash on or leash off rule of the beach.

- Clean up after your dog.

- Keep your dogs away from other beach-goers or other dogs unless they are welcome to play.

- Your pets must be well-behaved, people-friendly, and able to listen to verbal commands.

- Prevent your dogs from wandering off by keeping a close eye on them.

Punta Prima Beach

Punta Prima Beach is a picturesque seascape of rocky coves and white sandy bays on the Orihuela Costa. The diverse and robust marine life in its shallow waters makes this spot a favorite destination for snorkelers and anglers. This area is where a coastal path begins, which runs along the coast of Orihuela Costa down to the southern end of Dehesa de Campoamor.

Playa Canina

This secluded and peaceful inlet is next to a more lively Cala Mosca with bars and restaurants. It has a fine sandy beach, gentle waves, and shallow waters. Families with dogs will frequently visit this pet-friendly area, where dogs are allowed to play off the leash.

Playa Flamenca

Playa Flamenca is one of the most popular beaches in Costa Blanca. It is well-maintained and equipped with essential facilities such as parasols, lounge chairs, bathrooms, and lively beach bars. This beach is perfect for dog walking with fine white sands that are friendly to your dog's paws.
