Barrio La Seca

Barrio La Seca / Salgueiriños (La Seca neighbourhood) is located east of the City of Pontevedra, composed mainly of housing developments and patches of agricultural fields and orchards in between and around its borders. While being considered a countryside residential area, modern conveniences necessary for everyday living are found right in the neighbourhood. 

There are schools, supermarkets, churches, banks, and a public medical center, The Centro de Saúde A Parda (Health Center A Parda). The two major supermarkets - the Mercadona and the Supermercados Froiz are strategically located amid the residential areas, making for convenient grocery shopping.

La Seca is generally a tranquil, clean, and friendly neighborhood. The residents enjoy diverse recreational facilities such as Gimnasio Odisea Sport (Gym Odyssey Sport), where martial arts, gymnastics, and other artistic and athletic skills are taught. The soccer fields of Salgueiriños Club de Fútbol (Salgueiriños Football Club) provide a comprehensive training ground for both children and adults. 

The theater El Teatro has regular programming of Galician and classic plays. The parks of Parque Das Camelias (Camelias Park) and Plaza Cítara (Zither Square) have manicured lawns, flower gardens, benches, and play areas for children.

Apartments, studios, and country homes are the common housing facilities in this area. The country homes usually have spacious yards with garden plots and swimming pools. Families can enjoy privacy and tranquil living while at the same time being close to the city of Pontevedra (only 10 minutes by a car). There is also a train station in Camino da Via with various destinations in the region. 

Traffic is light and the roads and bridges are well-maintained with stunning views of the river and the countryside.
