2019 has flown by and we are near Christmas, it is practically around the corner and Malaga and its cities are planning for this exceptional celebration. During this time of the year, colorful Christmas lights and decorations adorn streets, buildings and squares in the Costa del Sol.
Every year, Malaga puts on a fabulous light show for the Christmas season, beginning November 29th in Malaga Centro. With celebrations ending on 6 January for the Three Kings Day (or Día de Los Reyes in Spanish), The Christmas Lights will be switched off on 7 January. Notwithstanding the daylight, the lights make Malaga a phenomenal place to spend the bubbly season. Thus, in case you're in the Costa del Sol or anticipating spending Christmas here, this is your opportunity to see it yourself! Malaga is only a 10 minutes’ drive from Benalmádena and 20 minutes from Mijas.
The lights are turned on between 6.30pm to 2.00am. There is an added light show at 6.30pm and 9.30pm. The show lasts just a few minutes and is set to a few festive tunes that most will recognize, such as Jingle Bell Rock and All I want for Christmas. But if you’re not keen on big crowds, you may want to avoid the area around as it can get very crowded for the shows.
Last year, in 2018, Malaga won first place as ‘Best Sunny Christmas Markets in Europe’, this obviously present Malaga as a good destination if you want to celebrate your Christmas with good weather.
