Menorca's tallest lighthouse and the Illa de l’Aire are fascinating for homeowners and visitors

The Illa de l'Aire (the island of Air) is about one nautical mile from the beach of Punta Prima in Sant Lluís and can only be reached by sea, that is by boat, paddle surf or kayak for example. It is home to the tallest stone lighthouse in Menorca (38m), standing at 53m above sea level and visible from a distance of 18 nautical miles. The lighthouse was built between 1857 and 1860 and today is completely autonomous and powered by solar energy.

In the extreme southeast of Menorca, the island is a must do visit, it is completely uninhabited and practically unspoiled. The vegetation on the island is naturally low, hardy and resistant to the wind and salty air, such as the sea fennel, but there are small nuclei of Tamarisk (Tamarells) and Mediterranean buckthorn (Aladern), that have definitely been brought onto the island.
