Puerto Banus founder Jose Banus started to build the luxury spot called New Andalusia in 1970 after having met and being inspired by Noldi Schreck, the designer and architext of Beverly Hills. Jose Banus was interested in the area after buying an estate in Nueva Andalucia. Under the influence of the architects Schreck and Sainz, Jose Banus decided to adapt a traditional Mediterranean architectural style instead of skyscrapers like originally planned.
With the impressive harbour with the most imponent yachts, Puerto Banus has substantially contributed to Marbella’s reputation as one of the most attractive luxury destinations!
