When the most beautiful oldtimers from over 90 years of automotive history are seen on the streets of Mallorca in the days of March 10th to 12th, the time has come again: The Classic Car Rally, the most famous classic car event in Mallorca, is now taking place for the 18th time. Whether classic roadsters or dynamic fastbacks, whether water or air-cooled: the participating vehicles make the heart of every automobile enthusiast beat faster at this top-class racing event.
After three years in a row, the real estate agency Engel & Völkers will sponsor once more one of the most ambitious drivers in the category for this edition of the Classic Car Rally: in collaboration with the construction company Grupo Ferrá, we support the Nadal Competició team, which, among other things, sends Juan Nadal Galiana into the race with a Ford Escort MK2 1976. Galiana can already look back on a long history of success at the Classic Car Rally in Mallorca: He has been taking part in the event since 2009 - we are proud that the Nadal Competició car will yet again bear the Engel & Völkers logo again in March 2022.
The classic car scene on Mallorca has been one of the most active communities in Europe for many years - no wonder, because the conditions for living out this passion are almost ideal on the island: warm temperatures over long spans of the year, a unique Mediterranean landscape and varied, challenging sections of the route make Mallorca a paradise for classic car enthusiasts and nostalgics. The Classic Car Rally is the highlight of the year for many owners of classic cars and a wide audience: starting from Puerto Portals, where the paddock is located, the more than 500 km route consists of a total of 15 sections, on which the pilots in their vehicles compete for the much-awaited title. For example, a particularly spectacular route leads from Cap de Formentor along the picturesque cliffs to Port Pollensa - an absolute delight for drivers and spectators alike.
This rally includes genuine one-offs that have left their mark on the history of racing, such as the 1948 Bentley Old Number One driven by the German team Schumacher/Keller. In addition, the oldest vehicle participating in the event will be awarded in the Regularity category. This year's event features some important drivers, such as three-time champion Domink An der Heiden in his Porsche 911, and drivers who are making a name for themselves in the automotive world, such as Paolo Diana and Jason Kay, leader of the music group Jamiroquai.
The field of participants of the Classic Car Rally is, as is customary for a rally event appropriate to the class, divided into the "Competition" and "Regulatory" categories, as well as the corresponding subcategories according to the year of construction and displacement, in order to create a balanced competitive relationship. From pre-war models to touring legends of the 1960s and 1970s to dynamic youngtimers, everything that the historic motorsport world has to offer is represented. We look forward to a great rally weekend full of excitement, nostalgia and exclusivity!
