Centro / La Pescaderia represents the general area within the immediate vicinity of Praza de María Pita square. This is where the City Hall or the Concello da Coruña is found, and the impressive Monument of Maria Pita - a statue in honour of María Mayor Fernández de Cámara y Pita, a highly-regarded Spanish heroine who successfully defended Coruña against the siege of the English army during the 16th Century.
The area and marina is a popular attraction and tourist hub, with a significant number of cafes, bars, restaurants, parks, museums, and art galleries. It is also the focal point of Coruña’s nightlife and entertainment.
Explore the well-maintained flower gardens of Xardíns de Méndez Núñez, and its fountains and historical monuments. La Marina Park in Avenida Marina is where people from all ages can enjoy a large tranquil space in the centre of town for rest and recreation while enjoying views of the pier.
