Culleredo is a municipality south of A Coruña city. It is located along the main valley of the countryside and where the major road networks intersect. With the presence of A Coruña International Airport (or Alvedro Airport), the area has seen increased commercial development and demand for residential housing.
Like the rest of the province of Galicia, Culleredo enjoys a combination of the Oceanic and Mediterranean climate throughout the year. The summers and winters are mild, affording a pleasant climate all year round. Its unique outskirts location offers a relaxed and laid-back lifestyle for those who prefer to be closer to nature while still within close proximity of a major city.
In this municipality, the residents enjoy a close-knit community, while the acres of lands between properties have maintained the exclusivity and privacy of each residence in the neighbourhood. Mild rain all year round keeps the natural vegetation lush and abundant. The river that runs through the district of Culleredo keeps the wildlife thriving and provides water to the patches of cultivated lands along its banks.
The excellent location of the 2 major motorways, the A-9 and A-6, the good quality of roads, and the light traffic have made the metropolitan City of Coruña easily accessible. The city center only takes 10 minutes by car from the farthest southern rural area of Culleredo, and the airport is 5 minutes away. Culleredo is considered a rural municipality, but major services necessary for everyday conveniences such as medical facilities, supermarkets, schools, churches, and banks are all found in the area. Manufacturing companies have also set up shop and have engaged the residents of Culleredo.
Families living in this countryside haven have mostly kept the authentic Galician home designs of rustic exteriors, thatched tile roofs, stone walls, wide porches, and wooden beams. Gazebos, swimming pools, work sheds are common additions to properties that elevate its value. The country homes on the upper elevations enjoy gorgeous views of the river, the forests, and the valleys.
The main leisure activity that Culleredo offers is its scenic hiking and biking trails. The trails of Túnel Vía Muerta Uxes-Orro (Uxes-Orro Dead Road Tunnel ), Túnel vía muerta Ledoño (Ledoño Dead Road Tunnel), and Inicio Paseo fluvial Rego das Xesteiras (Home River Walk Rego das Xesteiras) are loved by the locals for its mossy forests and refreshing creeks. The Paseo da Ría do Burgo (Walk of the Ría do Burgo), a park along the banks of the estuary, is equally picturesque and an ideal jogging or dog-walking route. The Xardín Botánico (Botanical Garden) is also a relaxing park with beautiful gardens and fascinating wildlife.
For a special weekend dinner, El Potro and A casa do cura are the local favorites. The go-to bars for a night out with friends are Cerveceria el hoyo and Forum Celticum. There are several sporting clubs in Culleredo to encourage an active lifestyle - the Tenis Culleredo, Padel Plus, Club Baloncesto Culleredo (basketball club), and Campo de Fútbol A Lavandeira, a soccer club which holds regular friendly matches.
