Praza Gaiteira (bagpiper square) is a rectangular plaza with modern, multi-storey residential complexes featuring beige tiled walls on each of its three sides, with the fourth side facing Avenida de Oza, and leading to the busy intersection of Ronda de Outerio. Residential properties for sale around the plaza mostly consist of studios or apartments with sliding glass windows looking out onto the square.
Large, circular plant boxes artfully encased in spiral-like metal tubes serve a dual purpose of holding the plaza’s small trees and providing a unique bench for people to sit. Numerous lamp posts are positioned in different areas of the square, while at the center is a lovely gazebo that adds to the overall aesthetic.
Advantages of the rehabilitation of the nearby Tabacalera compound (tobacco factory) are also appreciated in this area, with the rise of a wide array of modern apartment buildings as well as commercial establishments such as restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and shops. Along the square itself are a variety of cafés, stores and services.
Praza Gaiteira is only 10 minutes away from two large parks: Parque de San Diego and Parque Europa. The Port of A Coruña can also be reached in a few minutes on foot. Because of its ideal location, many new commercial businesses are opening up—including many in the hospitality industry.
