If you are thinking of acquiring a house surrounded by nature, the Catalan region of Cerdanya will satisfy all your wishes. Located in the middle of the Eastern Pyrenees, in this area, a rich gastronomy, a beautiful historical-artistic heritage and an overflowing nature go hand in hand, ideal for carrying out various activities.
Thus, equestrian lovers will find their particular paradise in Cerdanya. Not surprisingly, equestrian tourism is one of the best assets in towns such as Puigcerdà, Llívia, Prats i Sansor, Bellver de Cerdanya or Prullans. Here you will learn to tame and ride horses and you will be able to go on unforgettable equestrian routes through the Segre River. In fact, horse riding is almost a way of life of its own in this territory.
The route consists of moving with a horse in trotting gear. In this way, time is created to enjoy nature at full speed. A strong and noble equine will walk us through high mountains with little effort. Many companies offer this type of activity with professional monitors. Normally, the activity usually lasts more than an hour and, in this way, you will enter legendary forests, travel through mountains, valleys and the edge of the Segre River.
The most experienced will have the possibility to participate in contests. However, for laymen, there are special classes where, in addition to teaching how to ride a horse, the essential equine steps are shown. The little ones will also enjoy the pony contests to the fullest. On special tracks, you can also learn to train horses. The Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park will serve as an incomparable setting for these activities.
The main equestrian disciplines are natural and classical dressage, horseball (a sport similar to polo), vaulting or raid (where speed is the most important). Activities are adapted to different ages, with special emphasis on the little ones, so that they become familiar with these precious animals.
You can even buy a horse and take it to your second home in Cerdanya. Many of the rural houses are fully adapted to keep this type of animals. They can also be safely sheltered under the expert hands of a caretaker, awaiting your arrival. Depending on your favorite modality, you can even participate in jumping or horse-riding competitions.
