The euphoria surrounding it is just like the excitement felt following a much-desired hole-in-one. Vienna, Florence and Milan are not the only cities to provide an appropriate backdrop for In City Golf. Innsbruck also has plenty to offer.
SOUTHWEST GREENS CENTRAL EUROPE IN CITY GOLF INNSBRUCK 2021 PRESENTED BY ENGEL & VÖLKERS TYROL will take place for the first time from 16th to 17th July 2021. The picturesque Alpine city of Innsbruck will become a magnificent, luxury golf course and will attract golfers and golf fans alike. We recognised this event’s potential early on and are excited to see successful shots and experience urban golf with flair.
We are convinced that this event is innovative and different. The real estate expert believes that the best proof that In City Golf is a perfect match for Innsbruck can be seen in the promotional images taken of the Bergisel Ski Jump. The panorama and mountain backdrop are simply unique. And it isn’t just golf fans who agree with him on this. If golf, a sport which is usually associated with green lawns, is made compatible with an urban environment, a rare and extremely attractive combination ensues.
At this event, there is no need to be afraid of being hit by hard balls: the golf balls are soft and appropriate for the audience. The golfers can look forward to a splendid 18-hole course in the centre of Innsbruck’s old town, including teeing off right in front of the Golden Roof. Innsbruck’s Landhauptplatz will also have a little golf course flair, as future golfers will be able to have a try at a public hole.

In City Golf was a dream; this description is the most accurate. One night, more than 10 years ago now, I had a dream about a high-class golfing event in the centre of town, golf amidst people. This year, we are celebrating the 11th anniversary of this exact event and have been guests in the most beautiful and well-known cities in Europe as well as partner of the Ryder Cup.
Because Innsbruck, with its picturesque alleys and squares surrounded by majestic mountains, is the perfect venue for In City Golf. All too often, Innsbruck and Tyrol are limited to other types of sports, but Tyrol offers an array of wonderful golfing opportunities. We are very happy to have established contact with many fantastic companies in Innsbruck and the surrounding area, which have become visionaries and partners of In City Golf. At this point, I would like to mention Engel & Völkers. This company was one of the first to believe that this event could happen and therefore plays an important and central role as presenting partner.
With the city of Innsbruck, we are pleased to have a fantastic partner at our side. After we had presented our project with the help of our good friend and golf promoter Josef Margreiter, In City Golf was greeted with enthusiasm and the gateway to the city was opened for us. Due to Corona, the event had to be postponed from 2020 to this year. In October 2019, we took a promotional shot of the Bergisel.
An In City Golf event’s promotional tee-off should be one thing above all: spectacular! Whether it’s from the roof of the Hotel Adlon in Berlin, the Brandenburg Gate, the town hall in Vienna or Florence, the top of a gondola in Cortina or a shot through the open doors of a flying helicopter, the motto is always “everything for the show!” The decision for the golfers to take a shot on the world-famous Bergisel Ski Jump with a view of the venue, the centre of Innsbruck, was therefore completely logical.
I don’t want to give too much away, but I can say that the South Western Greens Central Europe In City Golf Course presented by Engel & Völkers Tyrol leads the players and spectators through the centre of Innsbruck, past renowned sights as well as into some unknown gems.
Every In City Golf event goes hand in hand with an interesting networking event. This will be the case in Innsbruck this year, too. There will be a welcome evening at the partner hotel, AC Marriott, as well as a gala evening with our partner Innsbruck Casino. During the day, we are onsite in a VIP tent at the casino, which also acts as a club lounge.
As I said, I don’t to give too much away, but you can look forward to one or two things at airy heights above the roofs of Innsbruck, as well as a face-to-face challenge on unusual terrain with another sportsperson.
In City Golf wants to bring this wonderful sport to people in the city. It might be that you have your first contact with golf here and attempt your first shots at our large-scale public hole. Golf is no longer a sport for the selected few, but a wonderful opportunity for anyone to get some exercise, with fabulous scenery and surrounded by nature, regardless of how old they are!
I’m particularly proud of how unique In City Golf is. Additionally, as mentioned at the beginning, I have fulfilled a dream, which is why I am all the more excited about every event.
