The individual renovation roadmap: What does it say, who benefits from it and who issues it?

The so-called individual renovation roadmap ("individueller Sanierungsfahrplan"), part of the German Building Energy Act, analyzes the current condition of your property in terms of energy consumption and energy efficiency, for example with regard to building materials, insulation, heating and hot water technology, etc. It is only valid in Germany. It only applies to Germany. The analysis is carried out by certified energy consultants.

Initial situation: 40 percent of energy consumption in the residential sector

Background: The residential sector accounts for around 40 percent of total energy consumption in Germany. In line with the German government's climate strategy, which aims for all residential buildings to be climate-neutral by 2050, renovation measures are being promoted to reduce the energy consumption of buildings and the associated CO2 emissions. In this context, the individual renovation roadmap was launched.

What does the individual renovation roadmap say?

The individual renovation roadmap tells you as the owner which refurbishment measures would increase the energy efficiency of your home, which can have a particularly value-enhancing effect and what savings you can make on your energy costs. Important to know: The roadmap is non-binding and only results in recommendations, not an obligation to implement measures.

What advantages does the renovation roadmap offer?

As the owner of a property, the individual renovation roadmap provides you with a valuable tool that shows you which renovation measures make sense and the order in which you should carry them out. The roadmap thus offers you detailed instructions for planning and commissioning the refurbishment step by step. The advantages at a glance:

  1. You receive a detailed analysis of the current energy status of your home.

  2. Tailor-made optimization measures are identified and prioritized.

  3. The renovation roadmap creates transparency and planning security because it shows you the costs, effort and potential savings.

  4. If you have a roadmap, you benefit from higher state subsidies.

  5. The roadmap is drawn up by certified energy consultants. This ensures that the recommendations are based on a high level of expertise.

Find out here about the benefits of an energy consultation with an individual renovation roadmap in Germany and take advantage of the attractive exclusive offer for our customers.

Mandatory for property owners?

An individual renovation roadmap is not required by law. An energy consultation with a roadmap is a voluntary measure that makes it easier for you as a homeowner to plan and implement energy-efficient refurbishment measures. It also gives you access to increased subsidies and helps to increase the energy efficiency of your property and thus its value and reduce energy costs.

The roadmap is valid for 15 years, so you can plan for the long term. You can therefore think carefully about implementing the measures listed in the refurbishment roadmap and adapt them to your long-term life planning and financing options. Accordingly, drawing up a roadmap is a sensible investment for anyone who owns an existing property that is not optimal in terms of energy efficiency.

Who prepares an iSFP?

A renovation roadmap may only be drawn up by qualified energy consultants who have proven their expertise in this area. In order to benefit from state subsidies, it is also important that the energy consultant is registered in the federal government's list of energy efficiency experts. They are then entitled to submit corresponding funding applications.
