Location: Grödig, Salzburg

Fürstenbrunn is a village in the Salzburg Basin and part of the municipality of Grödig, in the district of Salzburg-Umgebung, a few kilometres from the centre of Salzburg, at the northern foot of the Untersberg at around 450 m above sea level. The village is somewhat hidden in the valley of the upper reaches of the Glan (Glanbach). It is separated from Grödig by the northern ridge of the Salzburger Hochthron (or Geiereck), the Austrian summit of the Untersberg, and the Glanegger Schlossberg, and from Großgmain and the Reichenhall basin to the west by the extensive wooded north-west foot of the Untersberg massif. Fürstenbrunn belongs to the village and cadastral municipality of Glanegg - one of the four villages of Grödig. Fürstenbrunn is known for the Untersberg Museum with its marble ball mill and its marble quarries (Untersberger Marnor). Glanegg Castle stands on the hill north-east of Fürstenbrunn. Fürstenbrunn is the end point of the Untersberg ski piste, which is accessed by the Untersberg cable car from Grödig to the Geiereck. The village is located as an enclave in the middle of the Untersberg nature reserve, which means strict building restrictions, so that it will retain its natural location in the future. Grödig is regarded as a modern, environmentally friendly market town on the doorstep of the world-famous city of Mozart. The city of Salzburg is largely supplied with drinking water from Grödig. Due to the population pressure on the municipalities surrounding the city of Salzburg, the number of inhabitants in Grödig has increased.
