The Mieming Plateau is a real stroke of luck for connoisseurs: At an altitude of 800 to 1,000 meters above sea level and with more than 2,000 hours of sunshine per year, it is embedded in an extraordinary natural landscape, just 35 minutes by car from the state capital Innsbruck. As early as 950 years ago, in a period with little written records during the transition from the Early Middle Ages to the High Middle Ages, the place was first mentioned in the foundation charter of the St. Gertrud monastery in Augsburg, dated 1071, as "Meiminga superior et inferior". The municipality of Mieming on the Mieming Plateau, or also called the Sun Plateau, impresses with its wonderful location at the foot of the Mieming chain. Many hours of sunshine and relatively little foehn influence, as well as the central location in the Upper Inn Valley, made Mieming a popular excursion and immigration destination. Mieming, with its hamlets of Barwies, Untermieming, Obermieming and See, has a population of just under 4,000. With a very good infrastructure, a very active club life, sports and leisure facilities (27-hole golf park Mieminger Plateau, swimming pool, bathing lake, playgrounds, tennis courts and a full 80 km of perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails in winter), Mieming is a place worth living in for all generations.
