The village was first mentioned as “Meiminga superior et inferior” 950 years ago in the foundation charter of the monastery of St. Gertrud in Augsburg, dated 1071, during a period of little writing in the transition from the early Middle Ages to the High Middle Ages. The municipality of Mieming on the Mieminger Plateau, also known as the sunny plateau, impresses with its wonderful location at the foot of the Mieminger chain. Many hours of sunshine and relatively little influence from the foehn, as well as its central location in the Upper Inn Valley, have made Mieming a popular place for excursions and migration. Mieming with its hamlets of Barwies, Untermieming, Obermieming and See has a population of just under 4,000. With a very good infrastructure, an extremely active club life, sports and leisure facilities (27-hole Mieminger Plateau golf course, swimming pool, bathing lake, playgrounds, tennis courts and 80 km of perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails in winter), Mieming is a place worth living in for all generations. The “family-friendly community” certificate was created precisely to maintain this distinction. Mieming offers all-round care for the little ones: year-round crèche and kindergarten, primary school pupils have access to after-school care and the new secondary school for older children. Secondary schools can be found in the nearby market town of Telfs. Supermarkets, a bakery, bank, post office, doctor, pharmacy, dentist and vet are available on the Mieminger Plateau for daily needs. If you are looking for entertainment and other shopping facilities, take a trip to neighboring Telfs, which has plenty to offer.
