The city of Varese rises on the shores of the lake of the same name. It is called Città Giardino thanks to the numerous and beautiful private and public gardens that are located within the municipality. The city of Varese is located in a characteristic position, at the foot of the Sacro Monte di Varese, which is part of the Massif of the field of flowers and is home to an astronomical observatory. It is precisely the low night temperatures that create a different climate in the areas south of this city. As in other Lombard pre-Alpine cities, fog is an uncommon phenomenon. Since 1960, it is the seat of the only Italian seat of the European School created for the children of European officials of the Joint Research Center. The Milan Malpensa and Lugano Agno airports are around 30 minutes away. The shores of Lake Maggiore are a 20-minute drive away.
