Olgiate Olona : Localisation et environnement de ce bien immobilier

The origin of the name Olgiate Olona, in the past Olzate Olonae (as it appears in learned Latin in medieval documents) or Olgiàa (pronounced Ulgià in Bustocco dialect), is said to derive from the medieval base 'augia' and to mean 'portion of arable land surrounded by ditches and hedges'. The determinative Olonae or Oronae, which appeared after the year 1000 to distinguish this centre from others of the same name, emphasises Olgiate's belonging to the Olona Valley flanked and crossed by the road connecting the Duchy of Milan and the nearby Helvetic Confederation. Above the Roman village, a parish developed in the Middle Ages, whose ecclesiastical jurisdiction was maintained until the year 1583, and its civil jurisdiction until 1784, encompassing the vast district that stretched from Cairate to Cislago and Sacconago and therefore also included Busto Arsizio. Olgiate Olona was therefore a religious and administrative centre of reference throughout the Middle Ages, first within the Seprio county, and from 1395 in the Duchy of Milan. Today, the local economy is sustained by industry and services. The Busto Arsizio railway station, 4 km away, connects Varese in 22 minutes and Milan in 30 minutes, as well as Malpensa airport in 10 minutes. With the A8 'dei laghi' motorway, it is then easy to reach numerous points of interest in a short time, such as Milan, Varese, Lake Maggiore and with the Superstrada 336 the Malpensa airport.
