The commune of Lens is located between Sion and Sierre and is located in the French-speaking part of the Valais. Just under 4,226 people live in Lens. The municipality extends from the Rhone Valley on the right side of the Rhône up to the mountain top of Bella Lui (2548 m a.s.l.) The commune was originally focused on agriculture and viticulture. The tourism in Lens is becoming increasingly important. This is not only due to the natural beauty of the municipality itself, but also to its proximity to the famous spa town of Crans-Montana, with which Lens has close geographical and economic ties. Crans-Montana is one of the most famous ski resorts in the world and is situated on a sunny plateau at 1500 m above sea level activities. Lens can be reached easily via the A9 motorway as far as Sierre, after which a well-maintained road leads through the picturesque vineyards to the village. The nearest international airports of Geneva, Zurich and Milan can be reached in about 2-3 hours by car. The airport of Sion, 25 minutes away, is available for private planes.
