Beaches in Benalmadena

Malapesquera beach

This beach is situated just 10 minutes walking from Benalmádena’s centre. The name of the beach, Malapesquera (bad fishing), comes from the few fish caught there. This busy beach is approximately 700 meters long and 50 meters wide. There is a promenade running along the top, leading into the main built up area. You can rent sunbeds and parasols, there are showers and toilets. There are lifeguards on duty during the high season. This beach is accessible by foot, road and bus.

Each year in mid-July, the Festival of the ‘Virgen del Carmen’ is celebrated. The local sailors pay homage to the Virgen, whose effigy leads a procession into the sea. The beach is recognized by the European Blue Flag award.

​Playa de Santa Ana

Playa de Santa Ana makes a perfect place for all the family, due to its protected, shallow waters and gentle sloping banks. The busy beach offers many facilities; such as sunbeds, parasols and public toilets. The beach is easily accessible by foot, bus or car. There ae many beach bars and restaurants to choose from and there are a lot of activities. This beach is perfect to have your evening paseo. You can wander up and down, watch people and have a drink in one of the many bars. This beach is recognized by the European Blue Flag award.

Playa Bil Bil 

Playa Bil-Bil is in the centre of Benalmádena. This beach is known for one of the most emblematic villas, Bil Bil Castle. The castle is colored in brick red and decorated with tiles. It is well-known for its night lighting. This large beach is just 3 kilometres away from Benalmádena Marina. The beach is surrounded by a promenade of more than 1 km and there is a tourist office. The access to the beach is easy and there are a lot of facilities like rental of hammocks, sun beds and parasols. 

​Playa Arroyo de la Miel

​This beach can be found in the town of Arroyo de la Miel. Arroyo de la Miel beach is 600 metres long and 40 metres width. Because of its central location it is very popular by tourists and locals. There are services like rental of hammocks, sun beds and sun shades, rental of sports equipment and there is a restaurant and cafetaria. The beach is easy accessible and there is a parking lot. 

​Playa de Torre Vigía

This large beach has plenty of beach facilities, such as sunbeds and parasols for rent. Because of its space this beach is very popular. Torrevigía beach is near to Tivoli World and Selwo Marina Delfinarium, which makes this beach recommended for families. Historically, Benalmádena was the watchtower of the coast. Today there are still three watchtowers remain in evidence, Torre Bermeja, Torre Quebrada and Torre Muelle. This beach is recognized by the European Blue Flag award.

​Playa de Torrequebrada

This beach is not as bustling as most beaches in Benalmádena. The small beach is only 100 metres long and 20 metres wide. Torrequebrada beach is rocky and has crystalline waters. This makes the beach perfect for snorkeling. This beach is a bit difficult to access, due to the stones and there are no facilities. But this beach is perfect to enjoy peaceful and quiet moments. 

​Playa de las Yucas

​Playa de las Yucas is divided into a number of coves seperated by rocky areas. Las Yucas beach is in a stable setting in a non-city environment. Because of this the beach has retained much of its natural charm. The beach is covered with coarse sand. Because of its location the beach is very quiet. Las Yucas beach is fairly easy to get to as the road runs alongside the beach. 

​Playa de las Viborillas

Hidden between palm trees and a little forest, Viborillas beach is by far the most beautiful beach of Benalmádena. This beach is perfect for people who wants to explore the underwater life. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and there are tiny coves which are virtually inaccessible via the mainland. This beach is perfect for families who are looking for peace. The beach offers you practically all possible amenities and is accessible by car or bus. 

​Playa Benalnatura

For the naturist there is the Benalnatura beach. This beach are only accessible for naturist. Benalnatura is located in a small cove and surrounded by lush vegetation. The beach is accessible via a staircase that leads directly to the beach bar. This bar acts as the gateway to the beach area. The beach is approximately 100 metres long and 40 metres wide. 

​Playa de Arroyo Hondo

Arroyo Hondo Beach is named after the river, which flows into the sea at this point. It is very easy to reach, since it runs alongside the main road. There are several restaurants and bars on the beach. Arroyo Hondo Beach is 400 metres long and 20 metres wide. The beach has coarse dark sand and is surrounded by dense vegetation. This beach is perfect for a swim with its clear blue water and calm sea. 

​Playa de Torremuelle

This beach can be found between the two housing complexes La Hidalga and Valdeconejos. Puerto Marina is just 5 kilometres away. This grey sand beach has a very popular beach bar, named Paco, and has many regular clients all the year round. There is a natural groyne on which it is very popular to have wedding photos taken as it is so beautiful.

​Playa de la Morera o La Perla

This beach is usually quieter than the other surrounding beaches. To get to the beach you have to go through the large La Perla apartment building. The beach is protected on either side by large walls of stone.

If you want to go to a beach where all the locals are, this is it. This beach is often visited by the locals and young people who camp out here too. The locals usually set up for the whole day, they cook their own food and make their own entertainment. If you want a taste of real Andalusian family beach life, then this beach is perfect for you.

​Playa de Toga de la Soga

This beach is a true paradise for those wo want to spend a day in an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The sand has a characteristic dark tone and the clear blue water is dotted with some large rocks. Playa Tajo de la Soga is only accessible by stairs and there are fewer facilities. The beach only has showers, but if you want more facilities the Playa Carvajal is just a few steps away. 

Playa de Carvajal

Playa Carvajal is full of life, noise and beachgoers. Families often choose this place because the waves are average. Carvajal beach has everything you would expect from a well-equipped urban beach. There are many beach bars and beach activities. The beach has sunbeds and umbrellas which you can rent and there are also showers and toilets available. There are constantly lifeguards monitoring the beach. It’s just off the main highway, and also accessible by train. The beach is recognized by the European Blue Flag award.
