Amenities and special features of this house

The Postalm is located in the Obersulzbachtal, one of the most romantic valleys in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park at 1,700 metres above sea level. Surrounded by crystal-clear mountain lakes and the snow- and ice-covered three-thousand metre peaks of the Venediger group, it is a special attraction for every nature lover. Starry nights, marvellous sunrises and fresh mountain air. The entire hut is equipped with state-of-the-art, innovative energy-saving lighting, a solar thermal system with solid fuel boiler and buffer storage system, large induction hob, Rational combi-steamer, Lohberger economy cooker for solid fuels and two lovingly designed tiled stoves in the two stone pine parlours. The energy required for the self-sufficient hut is generated exclusively from hydropower / solar power and biogenic raw materials. The main entrance in the west leads through a spacious vestibule. To the left are the toilets, the staircase, the drying and boot room with vacuum boot dryers, the fitted kitchen and, further on, five storage and utility rooms. From the right: Swiss stone pine parlour, then Swiss stone pine parlour, to the east a small storage room with access to the five storage and utility rooms, from the south-facing Swiss stone pine parlour you can access the terrace, which is also south-facing. In 2011, a new wing was built to the west and south-west of the terrace for additional uses such as a workshop or seminar rooms with a covered forecourt. The north-west first floor houses an office, washrooms with WC and shower, two infrared sauna cabins and three further rooms. To the south-west is the private area with cloakroom, WC, bedroom and bathroom. Further south there are three more rooms, a reading corner with library and a marvellous view of the Großer Geiger, one of the most beautiful valley ends of the Hohe Tauern amidst the three thousand metre peaks of the Salzburg Venediger group. To the far east is a larger room from which you can access another 360-degree panoramic roof terrace of approx. 250 m² via a glass lift and slide door.

Neukirchen am Großvenediger: Location and surroundings of this property

Neukirchen is dominated by imposing mountain peaks, including the impressive Großvenediger, the highest mountain in Austria outside the main Alpine chain. The region is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers who want to experience the unspoilt wilderness and breathtaking mountain scenery. The marvellous location in the Hohe Tauern offers both winter and summer tourists countless leisure opportunities. Skiing on the slopes of the Wildkogel Arena in Neukirchen, tobogganing on the longest floodlit toboggan run in the neighbouring village of Bramberg, hiking or biking in the Sulzbach or Habachtal valleys, water worlds in Krimml with the highest waterfalls in Europe. These are just some of the leisure activities on offer in the region. To enjoy Austrian cuisine and regional specialities, there are traditional inns and cafés in Neukirchen. Cultural events and festivals in the village and the surrounding area enrich the cultural life. The village itself offers a selection of shops, supermarkets, schools and medical care for daily needs. Neukirchen has its own railway station and offers good connections to other towns in the region. The Tauern motorway is easily accessible from Neukirchen and provides quick connections to Salzburg in the west (approx. 132 km) and Carinthia in the east (approx. 219 km).
